The members of the firm of Vaughn, Bowden and Wooten, PA have an extensive litigation background in both federal and state courts in the region.  Tom Vaughn, the firm’s senior member, has engaged in various types of civil litigation in excess of thirty (30) years and has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for his work in personal injury litigation.  Tom limits his litigation practice to civil litigation and has extensive practice in products liability, personal injury, trucking and automobile litigation, environmental/ toxic mass tort, as well as a variety of civil litigation.  Member Ben Bowden has maintained a litigation practice in excess of fifteen (15) years, including trucking and automobile litigation and products liability litigation, as well as particular emphasis on civil rights Section 1983 actions, including all categories of discrimination as well as Fourth and Eighth Amendment excessive use of force claims.

Products Liability

The members of the law firm of Vaughn, Bowden and Wooten, PA, have an extensive products liability practice.  Member Tom Vaughn has been engaged in mass toxic tort products liability litigation in excess of twenty-five (25) years, first being engaged in the defense of an asbestos client commencing in 1979.  The firm has maintained a presence in mass tort products liability cases including multi-state and national products liability matters throughout their practice history.  The firm maintains a full compliment of qualified paralegals in the products liability/ toxic tort arena to better serve its clients in that litigation. Automobile and Transportation Law

Firm members Tom Vaughn and Ben Bowden have, throughout their careers, been substantially engaged in transportation law including automobile and trucking litigation.  Member Tom Vaughn is General Counsel for an insurance company specializing in automobile coverage and as such represents insureds of the insurance company in the state and federal courts throughout the Region.  Additionally, members Tom Vaughn and Ben Bowden have been extensively involved in trucking litigation throughout the State of Mississippi. Real Estate

The Members of Vaughn, Bowden & Wooten, PA are experienced in all types of real estate matters and commercial transactions, ranging from first-time home buyers to multi-level non-recourse financing.  Members Tom Vaughn and Eric Wooten have served as counsel for local banking institutions and as Mississippi counsel for several out-of-state lenders.

Eric Wooten has significant experience in zoning matters, in drafting covenants, contracts and lease agreements, in property management, in property owners’ associations, and in all types of secured transactions.

Workers Compensation and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation

The members of the firm have been very active in workers’ compensation litigation, including state Workers’ Compensation and Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation litigation.  Member Tom Vaughn has been engaged in this practice in excess of thirty (30) years and Member Ben Bowden, in excess of twenty (20) years.  Additionally, Ben Bowden has been a featured speaker at numerous workers’ compensation seminars, and is also a mediator through the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Mississippi Bar.  He has also been approved by the Mississippi Department of Insurance to conduct continuing education workshops for adjusters who adjust workers’ compensation claims in Mississippi. Jones Act and General Maritime Law

Members Tom Vaughn and Ben Bowden have litigated numerous Jones Act and general maritime cases throughout their careers.  This includes cases involving injuries occurring on the Gulf of Mexico, the Mississippi River and various tributaries.  They are experienced in distinguishing jurisdiction between the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Jones Act and general maritime law, depending upon whether the injuries occur on fixed platforms, jack-up drilling rigs, semi-submersible drilling rigs, supply boats/barges or tug/push boats.
